Our Skiddaw apartment was used by Beatrix Potter as a studio in the late 1890s where she painted a view of Lingholm entitled “The Rain” and where she also painted her pet rabbit in front of the fireplace.
These days Skiddaw is a popular apartment that sleeps four in two bedrooms. The twin bedroom overlooking the front lawn and the main double bedroom which has dramatic views up to Skiddaw and a wonderful old fireplace that may then have been warming the room on that rather damp, wet day that Beatrix Potter did her famous painting.
Set on the second floor in the eaves of the house, Skiddaw has a spacious lounge with dining table which also has a great view of the mountain of the same name. The apartment has a compact but well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower over bath.
Skiddaw is on the top floor of the main house across the landing from Borrowdale apartment, they can be booked as a pair to suit larger groups holidaying together. Wifi is available throughout the apartment.
